Marsh at Dawn
mary weathers poetry
Marsh at Dawn 1 the heron and stork are unlikely friends she in her elegant navy robes he just out of bed a grumpy old man with wild tufts of hair yet here at dawn they stand together silent sentinels reflections just as beautiful as their realities Marsh at Dawn 2 there’s a quietness to the marsh at dawn that I could eat with a spoon the great blue heron on the muddy oyster mound the water barely a ripple even the spartina grass dares not move silent mist encroaches enhancing the mood but finally distant plovers break the stillness with quick cries
P.S. If you are just joining you can see past work on this handy website created by Substack where I have my poems divided by genre: Nature, Family, Childhood, and Food. Thanks for reading!
